Gold Medallion Winners: Lilly H, Kason H, Makenah O, Landon W, Erica I, Marcus P, Kendall B, Tucker F, John K, Hunter H, Cody I, Carson K, Prairie R, Julia N, and Jessie L.

All Gold award winners will be traveling to Aberdeen on March 22 to compete on the state level.

Sargent Todd Wientjes will be here on Thursday, February 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the lunchroom to meet with anyone in grades 11-12 interested in wanting to learn more about opportunities through the National Guard. This would include college opportunities as well. If you are planning to go, you need to ask for a pass from Mrs. Weismantel.

Scholarship/Student Opportunities:

**February 23 – Youth Business Adventure – Juniors and Sophomores – University of South Dakota – June 17-22 – See Mrs. Mettler for more information and an application.

**March 1 – South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation Scholarship – Seniors – parents must be SD Farmers Union Members, Friends of the SDFU Foundation, or a participant in any SD HS Activities Association sanctioned activity – must attend an in-state post-secondary school – see Mrs. Mettler for an application form.

**Avera St. Luke’s Auxiliary is offering FIVE (5) - $500 scholarships to high school seniors interested in pursuing a health-related career. Application available at Applications are due on or before March 6, 2017

**FEM Electric will be sponsoring three students for a once in a lifetime trip to Washington, DC. Juniors and seniors who live in the service area of FEM Electric are able to apply. Application is due March 10, 2018. See Mrs. Mettler for application.

**March 15, 2018 – Northern Plains Scholarship – Seniors – Encouraged, but not required, for the student to be seeking a degree or certification in agricultural studies – Parent or guardian must be a Northern Plains customer - awarding up to five - $1000 scholarships – see Mrs. Mettler for application

**Black Hill Chapter Germans from Russia Heritage Society Essay Contest – Middle School through High School. Due March 20, 2018. See Mrs. Mettler for more information.

**March 23 – SD Youth Trooper Academy – Juniors/Seniors – Sponsored by the SD Highway Patrol – June 25 – 29, in Pierre, SD. See Mrs. Mettler if interested.

**March 31, 2018 – Resource Conservation Speech Contest – 9th—12th grade – Topic “How Does Your Watershed?” Cash prizes totaling $2,300. See Mrs. Mettler for entry form.

**Applications are open until March 31, 2018 – Build Dakota Scholarship – Students must be interested in pursuing technical institute training in a qualifies program in South Dakota – apply through the Build Dakota website –

**April 1 – The Scottish Rite Foundation – Seniors – May attend a college, university, or post-secondary school of your choice – awarding 20 - $250 book grants. See Mrs. Mettler for an application.

**Healthcare Career Camp – June 17 – 22 on the campus of USD. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the fall of 2018 are eligible to attend. Registration materials can be found at Must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2018. Camp tuition is $100.

**Deadlines will vary – Sioux Falls Community Foundation – Seniors – Over 50 different scholarship opportunities are available to students who will be attending college this fall – not every scholarship will be available to you. Awards range from $250 - $5,000 per academic year. I will give each senior a copy and you may also access it and apply directly at

Health Professions Career Camp – July 10 – 13 on campus of SDSU. Juniors and seniors in the fall of 2018 are eligible to attend. Registration materials can be found at Camp enrollment is limited and filled on the first come, first-served basis. Registration fee $100.
